I posted this before, but thought I'd try my luck again...
I'm an ex-art student looking to sell LOTS of supplies. I'm sittin' on acrylic paints, oil paints, pastels, watercolors, drafting pencils, etc. The majority of these products are still in their packaging! The rest are very lightly used. I also have unopened canvases for sale.

Please comment if you are interested. I'll provide you with details on the products, or we can perhaps meet up somewhere so you can take a look at what I have.

Thank you very much!

Does anyone have any recommendations for things to do or places to go for an anniversary? My only restrictions is that we have no car and we don’t have something like a couple of hundred dollars to spend on anything, but we also don’t exactly have a dirt poor budget.
Also, his birthday is coming up in three months and he love sports so does anyone have any good recommendations for sports to surprise someone with for their birthday? Any sporting events happening in October?
Thanks for any help :)

look like it's bout to rain, what a shame
[info]stac88, thanks so much for the postcard & the t-shirt! I think it will fit Cash just right after a wash & of course blue is his colour :) We love it, yay for doggies. Thanks a bunch!

The oldest living person was born in 1893. I can not imagine what a confusing place the modern world must be to someone born in 1893.

So we checked rates for the two star hotel that FiL is staying at in Galveston & they were $99 a night. Which is about what we expected. I decided, just for fun, to try Priceline for a 3 star at that same rate. We got one of the nicest hotels in Galveston, I am psyched!

Last night I read Cash part of the book Paddy Gets Into Mischief. According to the inscription in the front it was a gift me on my second birthday. It gave the warm fuzzies to be reading it to my own child!

i got the armor-all to shine up the stain )

Salon off the Square
So I've heard tons of raving reviews about Soho Salon, most of which also showed me that they are very pricey. Anyone ever used Salon off the Square?

TV for sale
We upgrade and don't need it anymore. This is a Zenith television that has a viewable screen size of 27" diagonal. This is NOT a flat screen. The TV is a good working condition with 1 cable input and 1 composite input in the back. There is no remote with this television but it does work with universal remotes. We're asking $20, or best offer, and would like it gone ASAP!!

I slept for less than two hours last nite *tummy grumble*, so I stayed home today.

Chilling on my day off and thinking for a few about my job, making sure in my head I do the internal check of "do I like it or not?" and make sure I feel aptly compensated for what I do...

And I do, which is good.

But then I move to the things I see everyday.

I can't talk much about the whos or whys, but I can say the rest would make for a great book.  People faking injuries to get a check.  People getting caught on camera;

By me.

I hate the hours, but I love the job.  No cheating hubbies and no random billing.  I'm a special investigator specifically related to fraud, and it RAWKS.   Never have I worked for a company so dedicated to growing and helping employees (read: investigators) succeed.   I can pick a random name off of a phone list, call it and ask for advice, and anyone is glad to answer.  When other investigators call ME and ask for help, I gladly have given it without even worrying about the hassle.

I love freaking people out, pissing people off, or outright being a sneaky bastard they never know is there for days on end.  I get a kick out of the rare people who realize why I'm doing what I'm doing, and suddenly snap back into "oh, I'm in pain" mode... while on camera.  I get a rush from following people, and it cracks me up to no end the random goofy shit people do in the middle of the day to amuse themselves; neighbors and subjects alike.  I love the fact that I have a packed suitcase in my trunk all the time, and I get a kick out of the things other investigators do to get results.  My boss doesn't hate me, and I'm on track for my hours and video this month; which looks good come raise time (prolly in another three to six months).

I have Batman-esque gear, and that cracks me right the fuck up.

I have put over three thousand miles on my car (which Ive owned for a month) and milked the service plan *ha ha!*, and things are going fairly well.

So, in the name of good karma;

Anyone need a job?  Anywhere?

We operate in all fifty states, and will pay for travel and training, gas, provide you with gear, and you get an AMEX Corporate card for discounts on travel.  If you're creative, inventive,. and a little crazy, you'll really laugh out loud at the thought (at least once or twice);

"...and I'm getting paid for this..."

Private Karaoke Rooms In The DFW?
Hi. I am trying to find a place with private karaoke rooms in the DFW area. I'm in Denton, but am more than happy to drive up to an hour if I can find someplace worthwhile. Bonus points times a gerzillion if they serve sushi and/or allow you to bring your own food/drink.

when you leave me it breaks me like a bone
Happy birthday to [info]jenlove. Enjoy it, your life is never going to be the same after this year :)

Much like how you always win on your last spin of a slot machine I always seem to win on CentSports with the last of my money. I made a desperate 4 way baseball bet with my last $.15 & won $1.50. Score!

Mr B & I have a new favourite thing. Peanut Butter & Co's all natural peanut butter sweetened with maple syrup. Yummy yum on toast!

This fascinating little calculator tells you how much of any caffeinated beverage it would take to kill you based on weight.

http://www.energyfiend.com/death-by-caffeine

It'd take 192 cans of Diet Coke to kill me. I'm not that thirsty. Oddly enough, it'd take 250 cans of Coke Zero to do the same.

It'd take 85 cans of Monster to kill Sean.

but it's never as bad as when you come home )

Does anyone have a pointer to a site I can take a homebuyer education class at? It has to be Fannie Mae or HUD approved. I've tried two sites so far, and they both want to email me registration info THE NEXT DAY. Then the email never comes. And no, it's not an anti-spam issue. Trying to contact these sites through alternate methods does not seem to be fruitful either.

HVAC Repair
I could really use some recommendations for HVAC repair. I think we have a freon leak in our system. We've been working with KG Air in Denton, but he won't give an estimate to how much it will cost. I know it's difficult but a ball park figure I would think would be do-able. So I am hesitant to use him for fear of a giant bill.

I don't want to get reamed in the arse but I don't want some idiot working on the system either. Any suggestions from experience?

I don't think I can go another week and a half without air conditioning.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

ivy's got a boyfriend problem, ivy's got a creep
Learnt from ChaChaing lately: The most expensive drink you can get at Starbucks is a 13 shot venti soy hazelnut vanilla cinnamon white mocha with extra white mocha and caramel. It costs a total of $13.76 in NYC.

I have an ear infection.

Do children no longer sing about bringing home, then smashing up, then licking up, then barfing up a baby bumblebee? the version I heard on Barney this morning was much kinder & gentler. Did I just not learn that version, or has the smashing & barfing been criss-cross applesauced out of schools?

So Amanda told me Rhett was on Fresh Air this week. I get the podcast but hadn't downloaded that one yet. Wow, was it a trip to listen to! It's so weird, because you know, normally when you lose touch with a friend, you don't know what they are up to and they don't know what you are up to. But when th old friend becomes famous, it can be very bittersweet. You can see them, but they can't see you. To go from walking into their house without knocking to having to read about their impending parenthood in a tabloid is just...odd. But cool.

Hearing him talk to Terry about events I was present for was surreal. His suicide attempt was about a month or two before I met him, the girlfriend he mentions in the story was the sister of my friend who introduced us. When he talked on air about getting in trouble at his friend's churches for asking the wrong questions in Bibe study, I remembered the morning he'd unexpectedly come in to my church with Walker (looking incredibly handsome in a tweed blazer...this was at the height of my crush, I should add). He was surprised to see me, sat down next to me in small group sunday school and said basically the same thing, that he hoped he didn't get in trouble for saying something wrong. I said "Whatever they ask you, the answer is Jesus." which made him laugh.

I used to always put the Cramps "TV Set" on his set lists when I wrote them for him at Dave's Art Pawn Shop, so hearing it on Fresh Air was like whoa.

It's funny how he has changed so much in some ways but is still the same guy I used to save my Camel bucks for. He bought the Joe Camel mini shaver. Used it to shave his mole. Ha!

I miss him, but I'm so happy for him.

i've been working overtime, working on a novel in my sleep )

Beer.
I have a friend looking for a specific beer. I tried calling Miller of Denton's customer service line, per the directions of the brand's website, but my work hours don't seem to coincide with their hours of operation.

So does anyone know where one can buy Leinenkugel Sumer Shandy?
It's a seasonal beer only available from April to August, according to the site.

Thanks.

EDIT: SOLD!
I am selling a dining table and four chairs. The table has some scratches on it, but looks better than it used to thanks to repeated treatments with wood oil. It seats four people without the leaf in the middle, six with the leaf. The chairs have blue vinyl padded seats and backs. They are a bit used but still holding strong.

clicky for picture! )

I'm asking $30 for the whole set, but I'm flexible. Email me if you're interested: lirael423 at gmail dot com.

80G iPod for Sale
I would take pictures of it, but my camera's batteries are dead, so sorry, no pictures.

I've got a black 80G iPod classic. It has no major scratches on it, has not been dropped, stepped on, etc. In addition to music, you can load TV shows and movies onto it. I love it, but I needs money for a speeding ticket. I'm asking $100.

edit: It also comes with a carrying case. Not one of the hard ones, just a fake leather one. It won't protect it from being crushed if you happen to sit on it or something, but it will protect it from getting scratched up.

Been fun!
Been a fun day so far. My sister, her husband and my niece got in late last night. They'd been at my Mom's and then came by here on their way further up North to his parents and they spent the night and then this monring we spent a few minutes at a close by park (and they'd brought me things I'd left at Mom's) and it was all good fun. They're already on the road but it sure was great to see them :-)

Still concerned about family stuff and all but I'm hoping and praying it'll work out. Trying to relax about it.

Jon and I yesterday did some extra cleaning trying to get the apartment nice again (I'd slacked, plus the being out of town. I still have lots to do organizing wise, but we got it nice enough to feel company-ready. (I did a "stash-and-dash" though which Mom thought was funny since I told her she had to remove it from her vocabulary. I now have my own "closet of a thousand hours" too ;)) But all it all it's working out. My sister even saw the gift I'm planning for all our nephews this year and thought it was a cute idea. (plus they even liked my brownie recipe, sweet!)

The extra cleaning, along with the making pasta sauce from scratch had me really ready to see the chiropractor - so rather than hurting while they were here and still being so sinus-y (from dusting and cleaning) I got adjusted yesterday and that felt great.

Okay internet and computer are driving me nuts so I'm gunna stop this update. Later!

Dream Log # 12,376
I swear this was similar to some book that I read in elementary school or something. At least, that's what my dream alluded to. Now I have to find out what book it was.

I was in the rural South. Anywhere from the 1870s the the early 1900s.
I was traveling with a group of other people, when we stopped at a resting lodge. It was almost like just a shelter, where they just had beds in one big room, and everyone just secured their belongings where they lay.
There were some white people staying there as well, but with this being the Postbellum Southern U.S., they were the begrudgingly poor that resided with blacks purely out of shared circumstance.

But anyway.
The main event that I remember which possibly came out of a book was the following...

As I was outside talking to some girl (an older teen of the "Scout" from To Kill A Mockingbird variety, played by a co-worker at the job, hah.), this old white man was showing off his recent kill to a nearby audience. As he was showing off his prize, a wolf stalked in the distance. We (the audience) warned him of the wolf stalking nearby, but he paid no attention. As soon as he had the opportunity, the wolf snatched the kill from the mans hands and ran off.

I know.
Random?

Again, I could have sworn that the wolf scene was from a book I read as a child. At least that is what my dream was trying to tell me.

Okay. Back to sleep for an hour. Then I have to go to work.
